Lisa Heyamoto leads the American Journalism Project’s learning initiatives by surfacing data insights across our grantee portfolio and creating resources and training experiences that help news organizations thrive. She is also a key advisor on our investment and support strategy.

Prior to joining AJP, she held various senior leadership roles at LION Publishers, where she helped publications build operational resilience, financial health and journalistic impact. She was previously an educator and program coordinator at the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication and a reporter for The Seattle Times and The Sacramento Bee.

She lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband, two daughters and two cats.
