René Gornall

René serves as a strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team, driving cross-organizational planning, internal communications, and culture-building to ensure the organization’s team and systems power its vision at scale. She also co-leads the American Journalism Project’s people strategy and human resources.

Previously, René worked with Opportunity Nation, a data-driven campaign to expand economic mobility, and in 2018 she co-led the transition of the campaign from its incubator phase to a new home within The Forum for Youth Investment. René graduated from Penn State University and received her juris doctorate from The Dickinson School of Law, where she worked in the Family Law Clinic and helped launch the school’s Children’s Advocacy Clinic.

René is based in Arlington, Virginia.
