San José Spotlight is the city’s only nonprofit news organization dedicated to independent political and business reporting. Their mission is to change the face of local journalism by building a community-supported newsroom that ignites civic engagement, educates citizens and strengthens our democracy.

Leaders

  • Josh Barousse is excited about building partnerships in the community, fundraising and coordinating events for San José Spotlight. His professional career has included roles with the Silicon Valley Council of Nonprofits, various state and city lawmakers and Silicon Valley At Home, where he served as political manager and led advocacy campaigns.
  • Ramona Giwargis is an award-winning news leader with more than a decade of experience covering politics and government, working across Northern California and Nevada before returning to her hometown of San Jose. She is passionate about investigative and watchdog journalism that searches for truth, exposes wrongdoing and sheds light on injustice. An Assyrian immigrant, Ramona cares deeply about telling the stories of minority and underserved communities.
