Michelle oversees a portfolio of our growth investments, serving as a strategic partner to leaders as they maximize their organizations’ performance and impact. She also helps to scout new investment opportunities for the American Journalism Project and contributes to the development of our venture support strategies.

She was previously general manager at Detroit’s NPR affiliate, WDET, where she drove audience growth, operating revenue and philanthropic support for the first working U.S. model of mainstream, major market, multi-ethnic public radio.

A graduate of Northwood University, Michelle’s career began in advertising and she has earned national recognition for her commitment to bringing new audiences to public service media. Michelle is based in Detroit.

Michelle serves as a Success Partner to Block Club Chicago, Fort Worth Report, ICT, inewsource, Outlier, Louisville Public Media, Nebraska Journalism Trust, The Nevada Independent, Outlier Media, Sahan Journal and WFAE.

Success Partners provide close support to grantees over the course of their grant and serve as their advisor and main liaison to the American Journalism Project.
